So I found out about Actions what the Actions do and how they work in Photoshop, I had a play and found the practical use for them I then found that there are pages where you can download actions meaning the photo is yours but the editing work that can turn a dull image into a stunning image is lost piggy-backing on the click of a button. Its basically used for cutting corners if you make your own actions but using downloaded actions and passing them off for your own work doesn't make you any different from every other fake that does the same. I decided to use some old left over images from previous shoots and edit it myself with no downloaded actions and then do a "cheat" edit of the image with downloaded actions.
I found that a lot of the actions I had downloaded were rubbish applying too much effect and spoiling the picture or were too simple highlighting that any over effects loving tumblr junkie can create them! I did find one or two that I found particularly good (and a few that I could use if I removed a step or two that just over did it or applied some naff boarder) but using these just took the point out of it all for me and I got no satisfaction from it not to mention I knew it wasn't all my own work so it just didn't feel original.
Granted I may use my favorite downloaded actions just to make some use of the photos that dont make the cut and by dissecting the individual steps in the actions I have learned a trick or two and been given alternative editing ideas.
